Who we are

Aura Clean Energy is an Australian-owned energy solutions business specialising in Hybrid Energy Storage Systems (HESS), battery energy storage and resilient power solutions for Defence, utilities, critical infrastructure and remote operations.

We take a solutions-based approach to energy. Rather than being tied to a single technology or product, Aura works with customers to understand their operational requirements and design, integrate and deliver scalable power solutions suited to their environment.

Our systems are designed to provide dependable and efficient power across remote, edge-of-grid and off-grid locations, with applications ranging from smaller site requirements through to larger commercial and infrastructure projects.

Aura combines Australian engineering, technology integration and industry partnerships to deliver adaptable solutions that can incorporate battery storage, solar, grid and generation technologies according to the needs of each project.

Aura is a veteran-led company with a strong representation of Australian Defence veterans across the team. We value the experience, leadership and operational perspective veterans bring to our business and proudly support veteran employment.

Our history

Aura Clean Energy was established in 2014 with a focus on developing innovative renewable and distributed energy solutions for Australian conditions.

Over the following years, Aura invested heavily in research, development, engineering and field testing. This work established the technical foundations that would ultimately lead the business toward advanced energy storage, remote power and hybrid energy systems.

As customer requirements evolved, Aura’s focus shifted toward the development of modular and scalable Hybrid Energy Storage Systems (HESS) capable of integrating multiple energy sources and providing reliable power in remote, off-grid and demanding operating environments.

By 2022, Aura had commenced development of its remote Stand Alone Power System and HESS technology. In 2023, the company successfully tested and demonstrated its HESS remote power capability and achieved ISO 9001 Quality Management certification.

Aura’s HESS platform has since evolved to support a broad range of applications across Defence, utilities, critical infrastructure, commercial operations and remote locations. The systems are designed around modularity, resilience and adaptability, allowing Aura to develop solutions ranging from smaller distributed power requirements through to significantly larger energy-storage applications.

Aura has continued to strengthen its position through real-world deployments and major customer programs, including remote power projects and its work with Essential Energy in New South Wales. The business has also demonstrated its technology in Defence environments and continues to develop opportunities across Defence and critical infrastructure.

Today, Aura Clean Energy is focused on delivering practical, scalable energy solutions built around HESS, battery energy storage and intelligent power integration — helping customers achieve reliable, resilient and efficient power wherever it is required.

Meet the team

Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer

Cameron has a diverse background in the business world that has taken him to the US, UK, European and Asian business markets. Cameron has over 20 years’ experience of running business’ and structuring deals across a diverse group of companies including Excon, Shell, Holcim Cement and Caterpillar. Having originally a Military background, Cameron transitioned into the business world in the late 90’s and became the CEO of a global safety company based in Chicago Illinois which was later sold to a private equity firm out of St Louis Missouri.

Cameron was appointed CEO of Aura Clean Energy Solutions Ltd in November of 2020. The company has undergone a rebranding to Aura Clean Energy and Cameron is looking forward to continuing to grow the sales and offerings in the clean energy space.

Non Executive Director

Mark assists companies with strategies, product development and networking of capabilities. He provides advice on leadership development and change management through boards and senior leadership mentorship. Provision of senior level consultancy directly generated through Unleash Consulting Pty Ltd.

Non Executive Director

Dave after spending 6 years in Chartered Accounting (Big 4) has gained significant experience in the construction industry over the last 30 years with a focus on residential construction.

He has held a finance directorship in a company that has grown from a start up to over $300m turnover and brings his operational and financial experience in these areas to Aura.

Jim MacPherson, Senior Executive at Aura Clean Energy

Senior Executive

Jim MacPherson brings extensive senior leadership experience across the energy sector, including senior roles with Shell and Santos. His background spans major energy projects, operations and commercial development, with a strong understanding of the challenges facing remote and critical infrastructure.

As Senior Executive – Essential Energy Project, Jim will support the delivery of Aura Clean Energy’s growing portfolio of resilient energy solutions, while contributing to the company’s continued growth across utilities, infrastructure and emerging energy markets.

Chief Financial Officer & Company Secretary

Jo is a senior finance executive with extensive international business experience spanning the retail and packaging industries. She is a commercially focused business partner and has extensive management experience in her capacity as CFO. Her strong leadership style, coupled with a solutions-focused approach enables her to influence and develop effective, high-calibre teams and deliver value-add business outcomes.

Project Manager

Steven has over 20 years of experience in designing and implementing industrial systems across Australia. He specialises in Mobile Communications, Water Treatment and Energy Storage Systems. Steven’s work focuses on utilising leading edge technologies that can be backed with industrial grade processes. He excels in customer relationship development, project management and team coaching. Steven has also served with the Royal Australian Air Force.

Head of Information & Technology Systems

Dean has over 25 years IT management experience across various industries including manufacturing, medical, retail and education. He specialises in IT Operations and Information Systems management.  He has served in the Royal Australian Navy and has a diverse range of life experience and genuine enthusiasm for teamwork and collaboration.
